Magic and Community

It’s a joy to me to be part of Queer Spirit community, because I can be out as a magical being. Out and fully present as a magical being - helping envision and create the festivals, connecting with so many wonderful people, holding ritual space, honouring our stories, our struggles, our power, giving reverence to the land and all the weird wild web.

Over the 9 years of the festivals the magic that flows through me has deepened and grown and with it my sense of service.  Holding ritual each evening during the set-up of last year’s festival for whoever/whatever was on the land was an honour.  People came forward in the moment to contribute feeling empowered, in some cases, to their complete surprise.  There was a palpable sense of magic weaving us, the land, beings and spirits into loving community.  Over many conversations during the festival magic was the theme and in particular the need of support for those on magical paths in a world rocked by so many troubles.

That’s why, in kinship with Queer Spirit, and encouraged by many dear ones, I’m now offering small-group retreats under the name Magic Gateway. These are spaces of grace where we can explore gently, supportively, our call to step closer to magic, come into magical community, focus and empower our magical workings. Over 5 days, they will bring together a small group of queer folk to share, feel into, reflect on and move through many experiences and insights into fresh realisation.  Highlights include: sharing our stories as magical beings, tuning to the green world, developing practices that replenish us, co-creating and holding ritual spaces.

It’s amazing to tell you that the first Magic Gateway from 10-14 April is full. Well, filled itself, more accurately! I know the group would love it if you feel to tune in and think of us during that time.  Other dates confirmed so far for 2025 are 29 May-2 June or 23-27 October. The retreats are not-for-profit. I’m intentionally keeping costs as low as possible as it’s important to me that all who feel called are able to participate.
